The Results are in for the 7th Annual Running of the Balls

The 2019 Running of the Balls is now racing history and the results are in. Ball number 5262, a pre-race long shot, against the odds, won the coveted Port Townsend Sunrise Rotary Youth Projects Trophy. Coming in first in a field of nearly 2000 competitors it brought home a purse of $2000 to its owners, the Kiwanis Club of Port Townsend. The Kiwanis Club sponsored 100 balls on race day. The Place position and second prize of $500 was won by ball number 1143, owned by Kelly O'Connell. The Show ball, number 1609, owned and trained by Chris Ashcraft paid $250.
The Port Townsend Sunrise Rotary wished to thank all of our sponsors for their generous support. The proceeds of this event will help us continue our works in support of the youth of Jefferson County and the world (We sponsor Rotary Exchange students each year. One outgoing PTH student and one incoming student from abroad). We also provide a hardbound full-color dictionary to every third-grade student in Jefferson County. Without the generous support of our sponsors, these projects would not be possible. Thank you all again and see you next year
